Halal Food in Bangkok - Feb 2013 Trip

Hello all...today I will be writing about the halal food that I ate during my recent trip to Bangkok...

1) Platinum Fashion Mall Food Court - Level 6

There are two stalls here selling halal food that I encountered. One selling Indian food and the other selling local Thai dishes. If you are planning to go shopping at Platinum Fashion Mall then you can drop by at the food court. The food court uses a prepaid card method so you first go to the card purchase counter and purchase the amount you feel sufficient to buy your food. I recommend at least 200Baht. Then you go the stall that you want and they deduct the amount of your food from the card. Then you go back to the card counter and take your refund. Don't forget to buy your drinks first before getting your refund! :)

The food court is at the 6th Floor of the building.
Uses a prepaid card system.

 2) Halal restaurant in Chatuchak Weekend Market

It is very easy to find the shop. It is exactly in front of the clock tower which is at the center of Chatuchak Market. Just ask the shop owners there to show you the direction to the clock tower coz everyone should know. Try the Beriyani Rice with Chicken! Very unique taste yet so delicious! Pad Thai is also amazing and most of all the clear Tom Yam Soup. Very tasty! Price has increased tremendously though from the last time I was there 3 years ago. Fried rice meal used to be 80Baht but now costs over 120Baht. Seafood fried rice costs 160Baht... But we Muslims have no choice so eat away. :)

Once you are at this clock tower, just walk around it until you see the restaurant. If you don't see it then there must be something seriously wrong with you! :P There's only one shop selling food in front of the clock tower so you won't miss it. :)

A lot of food to choose from to be eaten with rice. The Sambal Prawn with Petai was excruciatingly spicy yet tasty! :) But Makcik, your food is getting more and more expensive laaa!

Enough to feed an army.

There is another restaurant also in Chatuchak which I wrote in my latest entry here ---> Bangkok June 2013 : Day 2 & 3

3) Makyah Muslim Restaurant

Makyah is on the same road as Platinum Mall and also nearby Siam Paragon so if you are around the area and need to find a halal restaurant to go to, just drop by at Makyah Restaurant. Or if you are desperate to find a halal shop do drop by too. :P Just a few shops away from Makyah there is also another Muslim restaurant named Farida Fatornee. Never tried it though. I've tried walking to Makyah before from Platinum Mall but it was quite a walk (berpeluh2 la jugak hehe sbb lebih 1km kene jalan). So nowadays we just go by taxi. If you take the taxi directly in front of Planitum Mall entrance, just go straight along the road and after around 800 meters you will see the road in the middle going up a flyover and road to the left is heading to a traffic light. Take the road towards the traffic light and ask the taxi to stop around 50 meters after the traffic light. Makyah and Farida is exactly across the road on the other side. You have to cross under the flyover to get to Makyah or Farida. You can also go by BTS and exit at Ratchatewi Station. The green curry chicken in Makyah is superb! Creamy and so delish. The crispy mango salad also tasted good. And pineapple fried rice too. :)

4) Deen Muslim Restaurant

Deen is just at the main road of Silom and easy to get to by taxi or tuk tuk. There is a temple nearby, Sri Mahamariamman temple if you need the nearest landmark. Or just mention to the taxi driver Silom Soi 15 or Silom Soi "Sip Ha" (tq to anonymous for the correction!). Sip ha is 15 in Thai. Deen is just at the corner before entering Silom Soi 15. Price is definitely cheaper that Makyah. Taste is more or less the same. The Stuffed Omelette that I ordered was really tasty. My friends Red Beef was not so good though. Green Curry Chicken was in a thin broth but tasted good.

Update: On my last visit in June 2013, the green curry chicken was really really tasty! Probably a different cook that the previous trip. I remember walking out feeling very very satisfied! Hehe.

Well these are only the ones that I managed to go during my recent trip to Bangkok. Other than the above I also had fish and chips at Carls Jr, fish burger at Burger King and the roadside stalls selling grilled squid and pancake. :)

That's all for now...till next entry, have a great day all! ;)

  21. In Asian countries they specially pay attention for selling meats to Muslim consumers now they knew well Muslims are only preferring halal foods that's the reason they arrange quality products to Muslim consumer which sale widely on daily basis also Non Muslims buy these products, all of these passes through after strict halal inspection process have a (Halal) bench mark on them which halal audit team notice it, so consumers aware what they're actually purchasing.
