Perhentian Islands : My activities

Hi all! Happy weekend! Anyways since I have nothing planned yet for today so here I am to update on what I did on my last trip to Perhentian Island. I stayed in Perhentian Kecil at Shari-La Island Resort. Do not mistaken with Shangri La huhu. Shari-La is located at Coral Bay and yes...the beach really describes the name hehe. A lot of corals so its really suitable for snorkeling. To go swimming, you just have to trek for about 8 minutes across to the other side of the island and you'll reach Long Beach. Don't worry everyone here do this and there's a walkway throughout the way so you won't get lost. Just bring a torchlight when walking at night though. :)

Anyways....here is what my friends and I did....
We first went to check out the private beach at our resort. Niceeeeee. So private though swimming was a bit adventurous coz of the many stones and corals... But since the waves are almost none (this beach is facing the mainland) so it was easy to avoid the stones and corals and it was more of like swimming in a very, very, very large pool.

The view from the entrance of the resort with the resort's outdoor BBQ dining area in front...

This is the stretch of beach at Coral Bay. The boats are for those going for snorkeling/diving trips and also for taxi to other neighboring islands. One way to Perhentian Besar cost RM15 per person.

The view facing the sea...

Care for some canoeing while sun tanning? :)

Looking for a place to have lunch by the beach?

Our view while having lunch... Average meal cost RM10 for a plate of fried rice.

Oh yeah it was voting season! Hence the blue ruling party flag. :)

The white sandy beach at Coral Bay....

Nice views...

Where would you like to go? :)

Compulsory activity! Hehehe.

Boat taxis...

Just rest and relax in the shade...

Cool tree at our resort just beside the entrance...

A few seconds of hiking to get this pic. :D

Took a few pics at the old jetty just at our resort...

View from the old jetty....

My beach accessories. :P

Relaxed for a while under the shade at our private beach. This is 3pm...

By 5pm we went to Long Beach on the other side of the island to have a splash.

The part of beach at Long Beach where we sat.

Back after our swim this is the sun set at our resort...
The first night we trekked for a short while and had dinner at Long Beach. This is Monkey bar where we had drinks and partied after our dinner.
Monkey Bar at 8 pm before the crowd came. By 10pm the place was packed and music was great!

Next day we of course went for snorkeling. Went to 3 place for RM25 per person only. Shark Point, Turtle Point and Light House. And yeah we saw about 1.5 metre sharks swimming below us while we were snorkeling. Big turtles too.
The boatman caught a fish. Can we even eat this? :P Looked too beautiful to eat hehe...
This is the light house. The coral and fishes here are beautiful.

Dare devils jumping off the light house. Cool! I was not cool enough to do it. :P

Another view from our resort before it went dark. No sunset view on the 2nd day coz of heavy clouds. Bummer.

Had early dinner on the 2nd day at Coral Bay. BBQ set for RM15. You get a lemonade, 1 choice of BBQ chicken or squid or fish or etc, 1 baked potato and salad. Not bad.

Last day pictures around the resort...

Last day pic from our resort....

Pic from the jetty before going back to mainland... The red buildings are Senja Resort.

Well....that's all for now. I really really love Perhentian Island. Its perfect for a short relaxing weekend away from the city or a week long diving trip. I will definitely be back again! Maybe I'll see you there too? :) Till next entry...
